Overview
New open-air cabinets for a fresh food retail environment.
Fresh Foods Market Maroochydore required a new open-air cabinet system to display fresh fruit, prepared foods, meat and dairy. SETPOINT delivered the cabinet installation and refrigeration plant needed to support a wide range of cooling loads across the display line.
The Problem
The store needed reliable display refrigeration without running more capacity than required.
Fresh food retail puts constant pressure on display refrigeration. Fruit, prepared foods, meat and dairy all need stable presentation conditions while the load changes through the day.
The customer required a new open-air cabinet system that could support a varied product mix. The system needed enough installed capacity for peak demand, while avoiding unnecessary power consumption when the cabinet load was lower.
The challenge was load matching. The refrigeration plant needed to cover the full display requirement, but operate efficiently as the cooling load changed.
The Solution
A new display cabinet system paired with variable-speed condensing capacity.
SETPOINT supplied, assembled and installed five 4 m open-air display cabinets, then connected them to a new Acpac condensing unit with Variable Speed Drive control.
Open-air cabinet installation
Five 4 m display cabinets were supplied, assembled and installed for fresh fruit, prepared foods, meat and dairy presentation.
Pipework and insulation
SETPOINT completed 30 m of pipework and insulation to connect the display cabinet line to the refrigeration plant.
Electrical works
The installation included the electrical work required to support the new display refrigeration system.
High-efficiency condensing unit
A new 32 kW Acpac condensing unit with a high-efficiency compressor was supplied and installed.
Variable Speed Drive control
Variable Speed Drive control allows the system to vary output across an 11-32 kW capacity range, depending on the required cabinet cooling load.
The system was designed to move with demand.
The installed plant has the capacity needed for the full cabinet line, but it can reduce output when the cooling load is lower.
That means the store gets dependable product display refrigeration without forcing the system to run at full capacity all the time.
The Outcome
The customer now has an efficient display refrigeration system.
The finished system can range from 11 kW to 32 kW depending on the required cabinet cooling load, helping reduce power consumption across normal operation.
By pairing the open-air cabinets with Variable Speed Drive control and a high-efficiency compressor, the refrigeration plant can respond to real demand rather than simply operating at fixed full output.
- Five 4 m open-air display cabinets were supplied, assembled and installed.
- 30 m of pipework, insulation and electrical works were completed.
- A new 32 kW Acpac condensing unit was installed.
- The system can operate across an 11-32 kW capacity range.
- Capacity is matched to the required cabinet cooling load.
- The customer now has a more efficient system with reduced power consumption.
Project result: a new fresh food display refrigeration system with efficient variable capacity control.
